About this tool, tips & examples

What it does

The Business Name Generator produces candidate names for startups, companies, apps, and products by combining curated word pools with business-type-specific templates. Optionally append a corporate suffix (Inc, Labs, .io-style endings) and generate up to 1,000 candidates in one run — enough to shortlist from, with a seed so any batch can be regenerated.

Common use cases

  • Naming a startup or product — bulk-generate candidates, shortlist, then check domain, trademark, and handle availability for the survivors.
  • Brand exploration — compare how the same concept reads as “X Labs” vs “X.io” vs a bare two-word mark.
  • Placeholder data — plausible company names for CRM demos, invoice fixtures, and B2B app prototypes.
  • Workshops — seed a naming session with a hundred starting points instead of a blank whiteboard.

Settings

  • Business type — the flavor of the word pools: startup, app, or classic company naming (presets cover each).
  • Add suffix — appends corporate endings like Inc, Labs, or .io-style suffixes.
  • How many — 1 to 1,000 names per run, exportable as text, CSV, or JSON.
  • Seed — the same seed and settings always regenerate the identical list.

Privacy note

Names are generated locally in your browser and never uploaded. Output is synthetic text from word pools — it may coincide with real companies, so always run trademark and domain checks before adopting a name.

FAQ

Are these names available to register? Unknown by design — nothing here checks registries. Treat the output as a brainstorm, then verify domains, trademarks, and app-store collisions for your shortlist.

Can I regenerate a list from last week? Yes, if you kept the seed: identical seed, type, suffix setting, and count reproduce the same list in the same order.

Why do some names look odd? Volume is the strategy: a 5% hit rate over 200 candidates is ten real options. Skim fast, shortlist, discard the rest.
