About this tool, tips & examples

What it does

The Math Quiz Generator creates arithmetic practice problems — addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, or a mix — with a maximum operand you control (1 to 1,000) and optional answer keys. Generate up to 1,000 problems per run, seeded so the same worksheet can be reprinted or a make-up quiz can match the original.

Common use cases

  • Classroom worksheets — a fresh problem set per lesson, exportable as text or CSV for formatting.
  • Tutoring — problems pitched exactly at the student’s level via the max-operand control.
  • Test preparation — timed drills with the answer key generated separately for self-checking.
  • Homeschooling — daily practice sets that never repeat (new seed) or repeat exactly (same seed).

Settings

  • Operation — addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, or mixed (presets for basic addition, multiplication tables, and mixed with answers).
  • Max operand — 1 to 1,000; the difficulty dial, from single-digit sums to three-digit multiplication.
  • How many — 1 to 1,000 problems per run.
  • Include answers — on for self-study and answer keys, off for the student’s copy.
  • Seed — the same seed and settings regenerate the identical problem set.

Privacy note

Problems are generated locally in your browser — nothing about your students or their practice is uploaded or logged.

FAQ

How do I print a quiz and its answer key separately? Generate twice with the same seed — once with answers off (the handout), once with answers on (your key). The problems match exactly.

Are division problems whole-number friendly? Problems are built for arithmetic practice at the chosen difficulty; spot-check a set at your level before printing a large batch.

Can two students get different quizzes? Yes — one seed per student gives everyone unique problems of identical difficulty, and you can regenerate any student’s set for grading.
