About this tool, tips & examples

What it does

The RPG Items Generator forges fantasy loot: magic items, spells, potions, weapons, armor, artifacts, and treasure — with rarity from common to legendary steering how exotic the results get. Generate up to 100 items per run, seeded so the magic shop’s inventory is the same when the party comes back next week.

Common use cases

  • Encounter rewards — level-appropriate loot rolled at prep time or live at the table (presets for magic items, rare weapons, and legendary treasure).
  • Shop inventories — a seeded run per merchant gives every shop a stable, revisitable stock list.
  • Campaign hooks — a legendary artifact’s name alone can seed a whole quest line.
  • Game development — placeholder item names and flavor for prototyping loot systems.

Settings

  • Item type — magic items, spells, potions, weapons, armor, artifacts, or treasure.
  • Rarity — common through legendary; rarity shapes how dramatic the names and properties read.
  • How many — 1 to 100 items, exportable as text, CSV, or JSON.
  • Seed — the same seed and settings regenerate the identical loot — one seed per shop or hoard keeps your world consistent.

Privacy note

Items are generated locally in your browser; nothing is uploaded. Content is system-neutral fantasy flavor — you assign the mechanical stats your ruleset expects.

FAQ

Do items come with game statistics? They come with names and evocative properties; the numbers are yours to assign. System-neutral flavor travels between rulesets — hard-coded stats wouldn’t.

How do I run a persistent magic shop? Seed the shop’s inventory with the shop’s name. Same seed next session, same stock — minus whatever the party bought, which is your ledger’s problem.

How does this differ from the Loot Table? Loot Table rolls from your item list; this tool invents the items. Generate here, then feed favorites into a loot table for drop rolls.
